LEGISLATIVE NEWS SERVICE SEEKS INTERNS FOR FALL 2003
 
The Capitol Pulse, Inc. seeks responsible, highly motivated juniors and seniors for a semester-long journalism/marketing internship.  Position is ideal for majors in English, Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, Political Science, or Marketing.
 
Interns will spend the first half of the semester covering House and Senate committee hearings.  During the second half of the semester, interns will focus on marketing of the publication. 
 
Responsibilities will include:
* Attending House and Senate committee hearings
* Drafting reports for the online publication within 2 hours of the end of the hearing
* Assisting with administrative duties, such as filing and website maintenance
* Assisting with marketing projects, such as writing press releases and making sales calls
 
Interns will receive:
* Press credentials issued by the U.S. Senate Radio-Television News Gallery
* Thorough understanding of the legislative process
* Experience working in a busy newsroom
* Opportunity for creativity in the marketing of the publication 
 
Qualifications:
* Good proofreading and grammar skills
* Professional demeanor
* Minimum 3.0 GPA
* Minimum 60 college credits
 
Interns will be required to work a minimum of 20 hours a week.  Internships are unpaid.  Interns must receive class credit from their university for the internship.
