Events Management Intern

Location: 2025 E Street, NW, Washington, DC 20006
Position Title: Events Management Intern

Purpose:We are looking for an energetic junior or senior student to assist in the planning and organization of internal and external business-related functions, symposiums, conferences, program events, banquets and VIP briefings, with particular emphasis on our 2006 National Convention in Washington, DC on May 11-13, 2006. Prefer someone who is available to work during the convention. The participating student earns three (3) credit hours towards graduation, plus the actual work experience and references only the American Red Cross can offer.

Key Responsibilities

• Willingness to support Red Cross Mission
• Provide administrative support with budget spreadsheets and expense tracking and reporting.
• Update convention schedule spreadsheets.
• Update Staging Guide spreadsheet and provides copies to the events team.
• File and organize internal meeting room and event request documentation and ensures updates are made to Staging Guide and all other schedules.
• Prepare convention briefing and planning notebooks
• Provide administrative support in working with multiple service contractors and subcontractors including producer, a/v company, exhibit service contractor, and destination management company.
• Draft communication and correspondence as needed.
• May require ability to work non-standard work hours and weekends.
• There will be an opportunity for business travel least once during internship
