Gifts In Kind International

We here at Gifts In Kind International would be delighted to participate in this program and believe that we can provide your students with interesting and challenging work. Most likely you are not aware of Gifts In Kind: marketing is not our strong suit. However, we are the leading charity in the field of product philanthropy and the third largest charity in the US in terms of the dollar value of the products that we have placed with nonprofits. Our basic mission is to work with corporations to help them manage their in-kind donation programs. We manage the entire process from donation intake through the warehousing and transportation phases to the final placement with charities. These recipients are registered with us so that we can verify their eligibility for charitable donations under the applicable IRS regulations. With just 35 staff members, we have placed over $4 billion worth of goods in the charitable sector over the 21 years of our existence. To learn more about Gifts In Kind, please visit our website at www.giftsinkind.org.

A recent poll of our leadership team has resulted in the following list of writing assignments that such an intern could help us with: Documentation of month-end closing procedures for the Finance Department Impact stories about specific donations: involves research of filed thank you letters and some contact with charities; review and rewrite of program and registration applications; documentation of placement requirements for specific donation programs for organization-wide reference; desk procedural references for key positions. This is just a sample. Other assignments will surface as we continue to think about this opportunity. We offer a pleasant work environment in Old Town Alexandria, a friendly, hard working culture and lots of opportunities for students to be exposed to impressive examples of professionalism and achievement - sometimes in the face of impossible odds. Interested students can contact me directly: my information is below. It may help expedite the process if they can complete the attached application. Although this internship would be unpaid, we could consider offering a monthly transportation subsidy.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity.
